Cate Cox, LMFT is a licensed marriage and family therapist whose dedication to exceptional mental health care led her to establish the Wood River Wellness Institute in 2024, serving the Wood River Valley community. She brings together her multifaceted background in transpersonal psychology, integrative medicine, and the performing arts. Her unique therapeutic approach draws from extensive training in mind-body healing and her experience working with individuals facing complex life challenges. With roots in both clinical psychology and creative expression, she offers depth-oriented therapy that honors the whole person. Sessions with Cate Cox, LMFT are priced at $400/session with a minimum of 4 sessions to establish continuity of care.

About Cate

Cate Cox is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a master's degree in transpersonal counseling psychology from The California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. Her clinical foundation includes specialized training at The Institute for Health and Healing at California Pacific Medical Center hospitals, where she worked with patients navigating serious illnesses including cancer and autoimmune conditions.

Cate's therapeutic practice is informed by her diverse background spanning psychology, somatic practices, and the arts. As a former professional jazz vocalist in New York City, she brings an understanding of creative expression and embodied experience to her clinical work. Her training as a certified yoga teacher since 2001 and Reiki practitioner further enriches her integrative approach to healing. She creates a therapeutic space where clients can explore the interconnections between mind, body, and spirit.

Community Involvement

Cate has served the Wood River Valley community through her work with St. Luke's Mental Health Services and as a mental health consultant with Higher Ground. She has been a dedicated advocate for mental health awareness, serving on the board of The Advocates (2018-2021) and the Flourish Foundation (2020-2025). She has volunteered with the Teen Suicide Awareness and Prevention Program and participated in leadership training through Off the Mat, Into the World.
